George Yancopoulos competed in the 1976 STS. Dr. Yancopoulos is currently President, Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Chair of Regeneron’s Board of Directors. He co-founded the biotechnology company with fellow STS alumnus Leonard Schleifer, and together they developed the ability to consistently translate science into medicine. In doing so, they have secured numerous FDA-approved treatments for diseases including cancer, macular degeneration and high cholesterol. More recently, Yancopoulos championed Regeneron鈥檚 COVID-19 program to address the pandemic and produce an investigational antibody cocktail. Yancopoulos holds more than 100 patents, is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and is a recipient of Columbia College鈥檚 highest community honor, the Alexander Hamilton Medal. Today, Regeneron sponsors STS, ISEF and supports a suite of Society 中文无码 Outreach programs. Yancopoulos often speaks to STS and ISEF finalists as well as 中文无码 teachers. He is a member of the Society鈥檚 Honorary Board and a former member of the Board of Trustees.
